Bayo handguard mount

The concept: to stow the M-9 bayonet on the rifle when not in useimage

Kitten Approved Conceptimage

Started with a sheet of ‘Multicam’ kydex

Cut the general shapeimage

Let the kydex sit in a toaster oven at 200 degrees for about 20 mins until it was soft

image

Ready to fold and mold.. using some foam and thick leather

image

Foam, then kydex, then the bayonet, fold the kydex, then foam again then hold it all together with the thick ‘shoulder cut’ of cow leather

image

Once it cooled down it was rough, but on it’s way

image

Heated the end to squish it tighter

image

Trim up the back

image

Drill some holes for rivets

image

Used four (4) aluminum rivets to hold the folded kydex in shape

image

Next drilled a few holes in the side, so bolts could be fitted to attach it to the Magpul MOE Handguard

image

All done, and it turned out OK, needs a few adjustments to curl the edges, etc

image

Finished sheath holds the bayonet well, nice and tight to the handguard

image

View from the bottom, bayonet parallel with the barrel

image

From the front, nice and tight to the front sight post

image

Now this bayo can stay with the rifle
